Pavement Parking

The Transport (Scotland) Act 2019 (the Act) introduced the statutory framework for a national ban on pavement parking, double parking and parking at dropped kerbs. Transport (Scotland) Act 2019 | Transport Scotland

Transport Scotland’s aim of the prohibition is to minimise the detrimental impact that obstructive and irresponsible parking can have on vulnerable groups, as well as emergency vehicles and other road users in general.

Falkirk Council adopted a low key 'soft' approach in May 2024 where advisory notices were issued to attempt to promote behaviour change.

Falkirk Council's Engineering Design Unit are now moving forward with a report to Executive Committee to approve the enforcement of Pavement Parking, with noted exemptions after a full assessment.
