Polling District
In Scotland, a polling district is a geographical area created by the sub-division of an electoral ward. The electoral ward must be divided into two or more polling districts unless there are special circumstances. In Falkirk, there are currently 9 electoral wards (Bo'ness & Blackness, Grangemouth, Denny & Banknock, Carse, Kinnaird & Tryst, Bonnybridge & Larbert, Falkirk North, Falkirk South, Lower Braes, Upper Braes) with each electoral ward divided into several polling districts.
Polling Place
A polling place is the building or area within a polling district where you will go to vote. A polling place must be accessible to all electors.
Polling Station
A polling station is the room or space in the building where voting takes place.

Public Consultation
The public consultation will commence on Monday 7 September 2026 with publication of a proposal for each ward. We will include the Returning Officer’s submission and any representations for reference.
We welcome comments from local electors and from any individual or organisation with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability. Suggestions for alternative polling places are also invited, if it is considered that the existing premises and facilities are unsuitable. We encourage you to share your views by completing the enclosed survey before 5pm on Sunday 18 October 2026.
