An interim review of polling districts and polling places
Polling District
In Scotland, a polling district is a geographical area created by the sub-division of an electoral ward. The electoral ward must be divided into two or more polling districts unless there are special circumstances. In Falkirk, there are currently 9 electoral wards (Bo'ness & Blackness, Grangemouth, Denny & Banknock, Carse, Kinnaird & Tryst, Bonnybridge & Larbert, Falkirk North, Falkirk South, Lower Braes, Upper Braes) with each electoral ward divided into several polling districts.
Polling Place
A polling place is the building or area within a polling district where you will go to vote. A polling place must be accessible to all electors.
Polling Station
A polling station is the room or space in the building where voting takes place.

Notice of Interim Review
Notice of Interim Review
Falkirk Council is undertaking an interim review of its polling districts and polling places. The process will commence on Monday 10 August 2026 with the publication of the Notice of Interim Review and background information to help inform residents of the current and proposed polling districts and polling places.
- The notice of interim review,
- The current polling scheme (which lists the polling districts and polling places), and
- The current map of polling districts and polling places.
Once we publish the notice, we invite comments on our proposal from the Returning Officer’s of Falkirk, Clackmannanshire, and West Lothian Councils. This will include any representations made to Returning Officers. All representations made to the Returning Officers by any person in connection with the interim review will be published as part of this project.
