Integration of Children’s Social Work and Justice Services
A programme board has been convened to consider the integration of Falkirk Council’s Children and Families Social Work Services and Justice Social Work Services into Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership.
The programme board is now gathering views to inform recommendations to Falkirk Council and the Integration Joint Board in January 2025.
It is expected that any integration of services would take place from April 2025 – subject to the necessary approval and planning processes.
Phases
Final approval and preparation
Final recommendations were drafted and are to be presented to Falkirk Council at its meeting on 30 January 2025. These recommendations are:
- That Children’s and Justice Social Work Services will transfer to the Health and Social Care Partnership from 1 April 2025;
- That the Council’s functions in relation to those services are delegated to the Integration Joint Board;
- The revised Integration Scheme reflecting the additional delegations to the Integration Joint Board for submission to the Scottish Ministers;
- and agree that officers make any necessary consequential amendments to the Standing Orders and Scheme of Delegation when the amended scheme is approved by Scottish Ministers.

Following approval by Falkirk Council, the required preparatory work, training, and resource allocation will begin to ensure services are ready to implement changes in April 2025.
