Gairdoch Park Play Area Upgrade

Falkirk Council are carrying out consultation with the local community to upgrade Gairdoch Park play area.

There will be two different surveys to complete . The first is the "Play Area Upgrade: Requirements Survey", we will ask you what you would like to see within the park and we will use the results to instruct a brief for play providers.

Under 12's are unable to use this platform. An alternative survey can be found here:

https://forms.office.com/e/5u9wPtTCG2

We will then invite play companies to tender for this project.

The second survey will be published after we have received designs back from play providers. We will put these designs to the community and ask you to vote for your favourite. Your vote will directly influence the tender results.

We will then provide feedback of the full process to you on conclusion of the project.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the initial survey, a summary of the results are now below

Respondents suggest various improvements for Gairdoch Park Play Area including the addition of an outdoor gym or callisthenics equipment a skate park, a pump track, cycle routes, pétanque pistes area and toilets. Some respondents would like to see improvements to the pond area with a walkway while others call for a separate dog area and measures to prevent motorised vehicles from entering the park, unfortunately all of these suggestions are out with the scope of the play renewal funding which can only be used to improve the play area however these suggestions will be recorded should suitable funding be found in the future.

From suggestions within the scope of the funding inclusive play items for children of all abilities and more seating areas rated highest along with better equipment for climbing and swinging with one respondent believing the current equipment is adequate and does not need renewal.

As most of the existing equipment has a good lifespan, we will now contact play providers and ask them to provide a design for this play area extension incorporating a range of equipment suitable for children with various needs and abilities that will compliment the equipment already on site.

Once these designs are received in late July / early August, we will ask you to vote on your favourite in the next phase of this survey, please note that the results of the design survey in the next phase will directly influence what additional equipment will be installed in Gairdoch Park play area.
