Falkirk Carers Strategy

Under the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, we have a legal duty to develop a local Carers Strategy. This strategy explains how we will identify and support unpaid carers, protect carers’ rights, and make sure carers are involved in decisions that affect them.

The next Falkirk Carers Strategy will build on what we’ve learned from the previous strategy and aim to make improvements that matter most to carers.

Why Your Views Matter

Carers know best what support works and what doesn’t. Your experiences, ideas, and feedback will help us to identify what support is most needed and set priorities that make a real difference.

We want the strategy to be realistic and achievable, focusing on actions that can be delivered with the resources we have. That means listening to carers and working together to decide what matters most.

Share Your Views

Over the coming months, we’ll be asking carers to share their views in a variety of ways:

  • Surveys to help us identify priorities for the next strategy for adult carers and young carers/young adult carers
  • Focus group sessions with carer representatives
  • Ongoing conversations with carers via the Carer Voice Group and other local community groups

Your feedback will help shape the priorities and actions in the new Falkirk Carers Strategy.

Engagement on draft priorities and actions

20 July 2026 23:00 - 31 August 2026 23:00

We will continue to build on the conversations from earlier engagement to refine a draft set of strategic priorities and proposed actions for the next Falkirk Carers Strategy.

These priorities will reflect the key themes identified from carers' feedback and stakeholder input, ensuring that the strategy addresses the most urgent needs.

The draft actions will outline how these priorities can be delivered in practice, forming the foundation for a clear and achievable delivery plan.

This stage of engagement is critical to shaping a strategy that is both ambitious and realistic before final publication.
