Empty Homes Plan

Take the survey and help inform how we tackle empty homes across Falkirk.

This Draft Empty Homes Strategy 2024-29 sets out the priorities for bringing empty homes back into use in Falkirk over the next 5 years. Empty homes are a wasted resource when there is a shortage of housing. These properties also blight our neighbourhoods and can be a focus for anti-social behaviour. The aim for the Draft Strategy is:

Work in partnership to bring 70 properties back into use each year to increase the supply of good quality housing and raise awareness of the issues surrounding empty properties.

To help achieve this aim the draft strategy is structured around 4 clear objectives:

  1. Identify empty properties by collecting relevant and up to date information;
  2. Raise awareness of empty homes in Falkirk;
  3. Encourage reuse through information and incentives;
  4. Address empty properties which are in a state of disrepair.
