Camelon Community Action Plan
The Community Planning Partnership are about to commence a Community Action Plan in the Camelon area. A community action plan (CAP) is a participatory tool that helps community members identify and address their problems, needs and potential. It also aims to encourage community involvement and management of their environment. A community action plan can include various programs and activities that are designed to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the community.
The CAP will be developed throughout 2024 by a Working Group comprised of a mixture of community members, volunteers and professionals from statutory and third sector organisations.
Phases
Analysis of Engagement and Identification of Priority Issues (Including Survey Feedback)
At this point the Working Group may split into themed sub-groups to focus on particular issues. The sub groups will liaise with relevant groups and organisations and may organise focus groups. The sub-groups will start scoping out potential solutions.
Feedback from Survey
During October and November 2023, Falkirk Community Planning Partnership conducted a survey to find out what the residents of Camelon liked and disliked about the area and their experience of living and working in Camelon. The findings of this survey are being used to help inform the Camelon Community Action Plan (CAP) Working Group, a short life working group set up specifically to develop a Community Action Plan for the Camelon community. A report on the findings of this survey, “Camelon Survey – You Said, We Heard”, is now available to download. The responses from the survey are split into those that highlighted what respondents felt were good points about Camelon (Figure 1) and what respondents felt were more negative aspects of Camelon (Figure 2). These show the range of responses, some direct quotes and a breakdown of the most common replies. Figures 1 and 2 show both the number of times a particular choice was selected and the percentage of the votes. For multiple choice questions, respondents could select more than one answer from a large dropdown list.
