Introduction to the Bowhouse and Kersiebank Community Action Plan

We are starting work on a new Community Action Plan

The Community Planning Partnership is about to begin work on a Community Action Plan (CAP) for Bowhouse and Kersiebank.

These neighbourhoods were chosen because information and feedback show they have greater levels of need, and a CAP can help make a real difference for local people.

What is the Community Planning Partnership?

The Community Planning Partnership (CPP) is a group of organisations that work together to make life better for people in the Falkirk area.

This includes the Council, NHS, Police, Fire Service, voluntary groups, and other partners.

They work in partnership to:

  • Tackle local inequalities
  • Improve services
  • Help communities thrive

These partners coordinate their skills, time, and resources to support local people.

What is a Community Action Plan (CAP)?


A Community Action Plan is a plan created with local residents.

It sets out:

  • What matters most to the community
  • What needs to improve
  • What actions partners and the community will take together

A CAP is based on:

  • Local data about the area
  • Feedback from residents
  • Knowledge from local organisations

A CAP helps communities:

  • Agree shared priorities
  • Plan improvements
  • Strengthen funding bids
  • Work more closely with local partners

It is a practical plan that guides work in the area over several years.

Phase 2: Community Insight – Get Involved

We are moving into Phase 2 of the Bowhouse & Kersiebank Community Action Plan (CAP) process – the Community Insight phase. This is where we work together to build a deeper understanding of local needs, strengths and priorities.

During this stage, we will establish a CAP Working Group made up of local partners and community representatives. Together, we will agree key priorities for the area, shape a programme of themed discussions, and plan meaningful engagement with the wider community using the Place Standard Tool.

We want to hear from as many people as possible. Over the coming weeks and months , we will be:

  • Visiting local groups, events and activities
  • Hosting focus groups on key themes
  • Carrying out surveys to gather views and experiences

Your input will help ensure that the CAP reflects what matters most to the community and supports positive change. Keep an eye on Participate+ for updates and opportunities to get involved.
