Airth / Higgins Neuk Active Travel Route

Falkirk Council is currently considering options for Airth and Higgins Neuk, to support the delivery of a safer and more attractive active travel link for walking, wheeling and cycling.

The route connecting Airth and Higgins Neuk is located to the south of Airth. It is currently a narrow rural road which runs from Forthview Golf Range to the shared footway / cycleway at the Clackmannanshire Bridge.

As part of this work, the Council is exploring whether limiting access for cars along this route could help create a quieter, safer and more comfortable route, while still considering the needs of local residents, landowners, agricultural access, businesses and other users.

We want to hear from you!

Your feedback will help us understand how the Airth / Higgins Neuk route is currently used, including whether people walk, wheel, cycle, drive, or use the road for access to nearby fields and properties. We also want to understand any concerns people may have, including the potential impact of limiting car access, barriers to walking and cycling, and what improvements would make the route more attractive for active travel.

This engagement exercise will help inform the development of options for Airth / Higgins Neuk and support decisions on whether changes to vehicle access should be taken forward as part of the proposed active travel link.
